In the heart of the Monte Cucco Park, there is one of the most important underground systems in Europe. The natural spectacle opens for about 900 meters of underground tourist route dedicated to those who want to live a unique sensorial experience, made of sounds, those of the water that slowly digs the rock, of smells, those of the depth of the mountain, of images, those created by stalactites and stalagmites.

The laboratory Museum, located in the medieval historic center of Costacciaro, is a unique educational structure of its kind, which illustrates what has happened, and still happens, in the limestone masses of Monte Cucco and the Umbrian-Marche Apennines, revealing the mysterious paths that the rain follows in the bowels of the mountains, before reviewing the light through the springs and feeding the slopes in the lowland areas. The museum itinerary is especially designed for school children and teenagers, where the discovery and acquisition of new knowledge takes place through direct participation, with interactive machines, tools and three-dimensional models operated by the visitors themselves.

It is possible to carry out laboratory activities on: geology-mineralogy, evolution of living beings and human beings up to the prehistoric age.

Ideal for those who want to explore the central-northern Apennines, it is close to historic centers such as Gubbio, Fabriano, Gualdo Tadino, Perugia, Assisi, Urbino and Spello.
The structure allows for residential educational stays, has 24 beds and a large common room. Soon the hostel will be joined by another larger building, obtained from an ancient monastery, and equipped with classrooms, kitchen, dining room, with 6 dormitories for a total of 50 beds.
